Courageous Conversations

Dr. Griselda Rodriguez-Solomon will be back in Bethlehem to have an open and honest discussion. She will take participants on a journey into embodiment as a form of resistance. Going back into our bodies, via breath and movement, is how we remain whole in the face of dehumanization.

Part 1: Breath

April 3, 2025 - 6:00pm

This conversation will be rooted in the ways breath, via the word, has been used as a source of resistance to dehumanization. Particular focus will be placed on the ways women of color have used their voices to resist reproductive oppression throughout US history. Light breathwork at the start of the conversation will help participants come back to their bodies, and remain present. Presence will help increase awareness of the strategies that our ancestors used to remain embodied and in turn birth justice.

Part 2: Movement

May 8, 2025 - 6:00pm

This conversation will be rooted in the ways movement, via the body, has been used as a source of resistance to disembodiment. Expanding on this concept of movement, Dr. G. will illustrate how embodiment has been actualized within the growing Birthing Justice Movement. By centering the birthing experiences of people of color, the movement advocates for embodied practices of care where the entire being (mind, body and soul) is cared for. By doing so, Birthing Justice advocates are slowly transforming and humanizing

the medical landscape of reproductive care for all. Light movement at the start of the conversation will help participants come back to their bodies and remain present. Presence will help increase awareness to the ways we can all birth justice in our respective communities.
